Issue #5 of Eighty Degrees Magazine

Eighty Degrees Tea Magazine

In early March of 2020, I approached Martin Boháčik to potentially write an article for his magazine, Eighty Degrees. I had first met Martin at the World Tea Expo in Las Vegas the Summer before and bought the first issue of the magazine. I was immediately impressed and delighted, not only for the visual style and quality, or for the range of excellent articles as well, but for the sheer fact there was maybe one tea magazine in American circulation that was worth a damn. I knew I wanted to write something for him, just wasn’t sure what it was going to be yet. All I had to do was wait a few weeks, and the world was thrown into pandemic chaos.

Over the Summer, I started working on a collection of interviews from tea businesses around the country and how their lives had changed as a result of the pandemic. I got a ton of replies, but of course, could only feature a few, including Spirit Tea, SteepLA, The Tea Crane, Being Tea, and JoJo Tea. Soon after, it was published in Eighty Degrees fifth issue, which you can buy directly from Martin here. Support the work he’s doing!
